Xu Liu is manager of Media and Device (MAD) team at Tango, responsible for Tango media layer on iPhone, iPod, iPad, Windows, Windows Phone and 1000+ Android devices. Since joining Tango in 2010, he works with a group of genius to ensure best performance of audio and video as well as other media processing modules, including codec rate control, audio/video codecs, echo cancelation, network rate control, hardware integration and test automation.
Prior to joining Tango, Xu Liu was a research scientist at Ricoh California Research Center in the multimedia group. His major research topic was mobile visual search. He also explored the technology of indoor object locating with wifi and RFID.
Xu Liu is member of IEEE and ACM, he has 16 pending U.S. patents.
Xu Liu received Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park in 2008 wtih dissertaion "Computer vision and image processing techniques for mobile applications". He received B.Eng in Computer Science from Tsinghua Universtity in 2004.
